When we spoke to our Draw 1 winner, who wished to remain by his initials E.R., he said he didn’t buy a ticket expecting to win, but that he simply wanted to help.

“I had no expectation whatsoever. I just wanted to support Preston and the Foundation. That was the right reason.”

Initially discovering the PCF Lottery through Facebook and, despite not knowing much about the Foundation at the time, our winner still felt compelled to contribute. "Good on [Preston] for doing that,” he said. “I thought, yeah, okay - I’ll buy tickets just to show support.”

The moment he received the winning call was unforgettable. Our winner couldn't believe his luck at first, thinking it was a friend playing a practical joke. "Is that Mark... Stop pretending to be Preston Campbell!"

Later, he described how it felt to receive the good news from Preston himself.
